The LIFE AMYBEAR project deals with the recorded increase in the incidents of human and bear interaction in the areas of Amyntaio and Florina Municipalities. This "interaction" creates problems that have been known for many years, such as damages to rural economic activities (livestock farming, beekeeping, crops), as well as others that have been observed relatively recently at a remarkable intensity, such as the approach of bears to settlements or the increase of the number of road accidents involving bears.

Announcement of an Open-Ended Public Auction for the Supply and Installation of prevention measures for animal-vehivle collisions  in  the New and Old EG Amyntaio-Vevi C.P.V. : 34992000-7, 34928000-8, with a total budget of one hundred four thousand eight hundred thirty five euros and ten cents (104.835,10) not including VAT, or one hundred and twenty-nine thousand nine hundred ninety-five euros and fifty-two cents (129,995.52) euros including VAT 24%.

Four workshops will be held from 16th to 19th of April at the Municipality Council of
Amyntaio. The workshops are organized under Action C1 of the LIFE AMYBEAR project. The
aim of this action is to consult with the local community and the contribution of all its
stakeholders to the achievement of the objectives of the project: to improve the coexistence
of man and bear. For each workshop, a series of initial speeches is scheduled and then a
discussion between the participants. The workshops have the following goals:

On 29/3/2018 07:00 a.m. the Department of Forests of Florina of the Decentralized Administration of Epirus-Western Macedonia
was notified by telephone by the Hellenic Police for a car accident between a passing vehicle and a bear in the 12th km of
Amyntaio- Kastoria and specifically at Aetos Amyntaiou. The members of the Rapid Response Team of the Forestry Division of
Florina immediately rushed to the area, spotting the bear a hundred meters from the road in an adjacent field.
